FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 is positioned as New Balance’s flagship marathon racer, designed for runners who want maximum energy return and a snappy rolling ride at half marathon and marathon pace.

It uses a dual layer FuelCell midsole made entirely from PEBA foam plus a sculpted carbon plate and midsole void to optimize stored and returned energy, targeting efficient propulsion over long road races.

The shoe is tuned for neutral runners with good mechanics who prioritise speed and responsiveness over stability, sitting firmly in the modern supershoe category rather than as a daily trainer.

• Midsole, plate and Energy Arc: The midsole features FuelCell foam made with 100 percent PEBA, New Balance’s softest and bounciest formulation.

• A full length carbon fibre plate sits between layers of FuelCell foam and is fine tuned to be stiffer in the forefoot, creating a pronounced lever effect that helps drive the runner forward from stride to stride.

• Upper, fit and comfort: The upper uses a single layer engineered mesh that wraps the foot closely while remaining highly breathable.
