JUVENTUS 2026/27 AWAY KIT: WHY THE BIANCONERI ARE BACK IN PINK

Juventus have gone back to where it all began. The new 2026/27 away kit from adidas ditches black and white altogether in favour of a soft, true pink base, and it's a far bigger callback than it might first appear.

Long before Juventus became synonymous with black and white stripes, they were a pink club. Founded in Turin in 1897 by students at the Liceo D'Azeglio, the side took its first colours from the school itself, playing between 1898 and 1901 in pink shirts worn with a black tie or bow tie and black shorts.  

The switch away from pink, as the story is usually told at the club, wasn't really a style decision at all. The dye supposedly couldn't survive being washed repeatedly, and the shirts kept fading. Juventus needed a replacement, and thanks to an English founding member with connections in Nottingham, a batch of Notts County shirts is said to have arrived in Turin instead. Those black and white stripes stuck, and well over a century later they're still one of the most recognisable kits in world football. Which makes this pink away shirt less of a fashion risk and more of a genuine trip back to square one. 

For 2026/27, adidas has taken that heritage and built something that still feels current. The base is a true pink, not pastel, not neon, sitting somewhere between the two in a way that keeps the shirt wearable on and off the pitch. Running through the fabric is a subtle, tonal zebra pattern, a nod to one of the club's most enduring symbols and, according to Juventus themselves, a design lifted specifically from the crest the club used between 1977 and 1982. It's the sort of detail that rewards a closer look rather than shouting for attention. 

Black does the heavy lifting elsewhere. The collar, the sleeve cuffs and the adidas Three Stripes across the shoulders are all finished in black, giving the shirt enough contrast to stop the pink from tipping into novelty territory. That's always been the risk with a pink football shirt: go too loud and it reads as a gimmick, go too soft and the colour loses the impact that made it worth revisiting in the first place. Juventus and adidas have landed somewhere sensible in the middle, which is roughly the same trick they pulled the last time pink appeared on a Juve shirt, back in 2016/17.  

Alongside the black detailing, the shirt brings back the adidas Trefoil, sitting opposite the Juventus crest on the chest. It's being positioned as the club's Trefoil kit for the season, tying the release into adidas Originals rather than treating it purely as a piece of matchday kit. Black shorts and socks, the latter with pink trim, complete the look. 

There's substance behind the styling too. The shirt is built from a lightweight engineered fabric with adidas' CLIMACOOL+ ventilation system worked in, aimed at keeping players cool as the pace picks up. It's the kind of performance detail that matters far less to most people buying the shirt than the story stitched into it, but it's there for the players wearing it under the Allianz Stadium lights. 

Juventus have form when it comes to shirts that live a life away from football entirely, and this one has all the ingredients to do the same. A colour with a genuine story behind it, a pattern that only really lands once you know what you're looking at, and a silhouette built to work as easily on a Saturday afternoon as it does on a matchday.
