KYLIAN MBAPPÉ'S GOLDEN NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY: THEIR LAST PARTNERSHIP GOES BOLD AND GOLD

Nike and Kylian Mbappé sign out their partnership with a boot that celebrates the Frenchman’s standout performance at the World Cup, where he became the top goalscorer in the history of the competition. You could tell that, from the moment Mbappé opened up his left foot to bend the ball into the corner of England’s goal, Nike’s minds were already working to bring us a boot fit for a King – and they didn’t miss with this one. Designed to celebrate history, this is Nike x KM’s last hurrah. 

A boot that has swagger, style and confidence all rolled into one, it was only right that Mbappé’s last boot with Nike would be golden. The boot somehow balances history and heritage in a way that truly showcases Kylian’s achievements. 

The golden finish is closer to metal fresh from the mould than a shiny golden trophy, representing Mbappé’s raw speed and power. 

It’s complemented by a turquoise Nike Swoosh that bites through the gold and gives this Superfly even more character. This isn’t just a design choice, though, as the colour pays homage to Kylian’s first-ever PE boot – the 2019 Superfly 7 ‘Bondy Dreams’, which represented Mbappé’s Bondy roots. Some would call that a full-circle moment. 

Flip the boot over and the story continues, with turquoise details on the soleplate and ‘Hungry for more’ stamped with a crown over the Air Zoom cushioning. Alongside it sits the inscription “XCVIII” – the Roman numerals for 98 – paying tribute to one of French football greatest year. The year Les Bleus won their first World Cup and the year Kylian was born. 

Beyond the colours, the details are what make this boot truly special. First, France’s iconic rooster and a crown, obviously. Then there’s the traditional ‘KM’ monogram, making this PE instantly recognisable (if it wasn’t already!). Underneath it, you can see the number 999, which represents the purest form of gold – a nice metaphor for one of the greats. 

Mbappé often plays with his heart on his sleeve, uses his afterburners and sees the back of the net like the back of his hand, so having a boot that stands out is truly the only option. The mix of these striking colours is enough to give you the confidence of Mbappé. Dripping in gold and boasting a priceless look, it draws defenders in – only for them to pay the price.
